Students will be responsible for thanking their sponsor at the beginning, inviting them to county show, and letting them know how their project did at the end of the year. If you are interested in applying for this grant please see the grant application below and return to your teacher by August 31, 2023.
Anyone wanting to sponsor an SAE scholarship please see the sponsor paper below and return to the Rusk Agricultural Department by August, 31, 2023.
About Us
It is our honor to announce that the Rusk FFA also earned its 13 th consecutive 3 Star rating at the National level, extending the Rusk FFA streak of the longest 3 Star rated chapter in Texas. The 3 star national rating and Gold Emblem State rating are the highest ratings a chapter may receive.
The Rusk FFA was also a State Gold Emblem Chapter according to the Golden Horizon Award. We hope that you, the student and parents, will take full advantage of all that the Rusk Agriculture Department and FFA has to offer.
Students enrolled in agriculture classes are automatically inactive members of the National FFA Organization and will receive the FFA New Horizons magazine free of charge. Students may become active members and enjoy the full benefits of the organization by paying their local Rusk FFA dues of $5.00.
If you have any questions concerning the information provided, please do not hesitate to contact the agriculture instructors at 903-683-5401.
Thank you,

Words from Alumni...
"Involvement in the Rusk FFA helped me to broaden my understanding of human interactions from the local level to the state and national levels. It gave me confidence in the goodness in all people. Technically, I gained skills - from design and problem solving skills to communication and leadership skills - that helped me to more easily complete an engineering degree. Finally, it continues to inspire me to a life of service."
Tommy Marchetti
Agriculture & Biological Engineering Degree - Texas A&M
"When someone asks me how FFA impacted my life, I am able to say in every way possible. I am not afraid to take charge, I love helping others, and I want to make a difference in my community. Confidence was the best gift given to me from FFA and I know I can take what I learned from it and pass on the confidence and care to others as well! FFA can shape you into a champion for competitions and as well into a champion of life."
Christian Holman
Bachelor of Science in Nursing - Chamberlain College of Nursing
"The organization is a family. To say the FFA has made a positive impact on my life in more ways than one is an understatement. I am blessed to have been, and still feel like I am a part of such a great organization. One that gave me some of the best memories, friendships, and taught me some of life's most valuable lessons."
Jade Buckey
Graduate Student in Forestry & Wildlife Mgt. - Stephen F. Austin State University
"I never thought I would weld or grind anything after Ag. Mech., but now I'm an artist and 40% of what I do is welding or grinding. FFA really helped me not only be able to speak to a room full of people, but also be able to speak one on one with people about my work."
Kailan Counahan
Graduate Art Student - Stephen F. Austin State University
"I think the Rusk FFA and my time involved was one of the single most formative programs that developed my poise and confidence in my professional life. I also gained good and useful practical skills that I utilized anywhere from welding in my graduate research project to conversations about livestock and offshore platforms."
Joey Marchetti
Mechanical Engineer, Exxon
"FFA taught me the necessary skills to have a successful college career. Consistently working towards excellence and never settling for less, the Rusk FFA taught me leadership, time management, and that getting out of my comfort zone cultivates a successful individual."
Nicole Phifer
Accounting Student - Stephen F. Austin State University
"I left Rusk FFA with a passion for leadership and a deep understanding of the necessity of hard work. These two things helped me find my career and I believe they will continue to benefit me for a lifetime. I am constantly reminded of the relevance of my favorite quote, 'Without labor, neither knowledge nor wisdom an accomplish much.'"
